HAMISH KIPPEN was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on May 17, 1987. He died in Toronto, Canada, on October 21, 2008, at the age of 21. His loss is deeply felt by his family and friends. Hamish was a vibrant and intense individual whose genius and intelligence in all he did never ceased to amaze those who knew him. It took extraordinary discipline and effort to excel first as a gymnast and then as a diver who won national titles and who competed for Canada at two Junior World Championships. His astonishing self-taught musicianship was admired even by seasoned musicians. But it was his choice of profession – fashion photography – that led to a body of work for which he will primarily be remembered. In his all-too-short career he not only displayed to the world his unique vision of beauty but he also developed an exceptional way of communicating with and through his subjects. Please join us in celebrating Hamish's incredible life and work at a gallery exhibit of his spectacular photographs. The exhibition will run from October 1 to 31, 2009, and will be held at The Great Hall Gallery A book featuring his beautiful work will be published this fall by Hamish’s family and friends and will be launched with the exhibition.
